Geological features from the earliest volcanic eruptions can be observed along Dodong Seaside Walkway. Among them, ‘pillow lavas’ are lavas that form into pillow-shaped structures when hot lava is erupted underwater. In addition, red beds are observed along Dodong walkway, forming a distinct boundary with trachyte in the upper part of the structure. The red beds were formed after multiple layers of tuff accumulated. The upper part of the formation have eroded over time. Later, trachytic lava formed the current structure. Although the two rock units are in contact, there is significant amount of time interval between the boundaries of the units. This is referred to as ‘unconformity’. Dodong walkway is considered to have academic and scientific value for its diverse geological features.
