A river terrace is a step-like landform developed on both sides of the river; it is remnants of the former floodplain created by paleo-channels that flowed at a higher level than the current ones. Out of the total 89 fluvial terraces, 79 are distributed in gneiss area while 10 in granite area - more in gneiss area. The river terraces of the Soyanggang River have been utilized for farming and residence for a long time in Inje-gun. In particular, confluence points such as Wontong-ri, Buk-myeon and Inje-eup where wide river terraces are continuously unfolded along the shore have been the center of Inje-gun. Other river terraces are used for rice paddies. Since the construction of the Soyanggang Dam, upstream Soyang Lake has become a wide flat plain by the water level control and residents in the area have grown radishes and cabbages in the land. However, the use of the land has been limited due to frequent flood by rain and soil contamination by the use of pesticides. Since 2004, the residents have begun to grow oats that suited to local climates and soil conditions; as a result, beautiful green fields of oats unfold over the summer months.
